2,000-year-old artwork discovered in Swat, fresco art likely to be invented in the region
Coins, pottery and other items are often found in archeological excavations in Pakistan, but paintings are rare. But recently Buddhist paintings have been discovered in Pakistan that experts say are 2,000 years old.
These paintings are made in fresco art and this discovery is considered a great achievement. There is no clear research on how fresco art originated, but fresco is said to be an Italian word and fresco paintings originated in Italy in the thirteenth century, about seven hundred years before today.
It is also said that fresco art dates back to 3300 BC, but no mention of his paintings has been made.
Recent discoveries of Buddhism in Pakistan have now uncovered rare artefacts that are nearly 2,000 years old. The discovery makes it clear that fresco art originated in the region during the Buddhist era, while traces of the art were found in ancient Egypt.
