Action against cybercriminals, identity cards blacklisted

Strict action has been taken against online fraudsters who rob citizens by offering lucrative schemes including Benazir Bhutto Support, Ehsas program. An investigation into the crore identity cards is also underway.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blacklisted 367,000 identity cards in a crackdown on counterfeiters. No SIM will be registered on these ID cards.
According to the PTA document, the licenses of 1772 SIM retailers involved in the fraud have also been suspended and 22 have been completely revoked. Warnings have also been issued to 247 franchisors while 21 employees involved in the crime have been sacked. More than 125,000 mobile numbers have been blocked and fines of millions of rupees have been imposed.
