Environmental secrets hidden in whale horns
Denmark: We know that the circles formed inside the trees not only tell us how old they are but also tell us about the weather. But now it has been revealed that the horn of a horned whale, a kind of horned whale, has many environmental secrets.

Like the circles of a tree, a circle grows on the horn of Norwell every year, and its examination reveals not only its diet, habits, and other factors, but also its perception of the surrounding environment.

In this regard, the University of Aarhus in Denmark has seen the horns of ten animals that have already been killed by predators. It should be noted that what we call horns is the long teeth of the male whale which are visible outside the face in the form of horns.
The whale’s horns were 150 to 240 cm long and all the horns were cut in the middle depending on the length and the features or circles inside were examined. It had mercury on one side and stable isotopes of carbon and nitrogen on the other. They found out if the whales were in the open sea or somewhere near the icy shores.
Observations of the horns show that the whale suffered from a lack of ice from 1990 to 2000 and in this context it also changed its eating habits. On these details, experts say that this unique research on whales can also be used to understand their diet, survival and other habits.
