The evolution of the printing press
Printing, that is, making many copies of written material, was a very old dream of man. In China, around 1040, letters were made from clay using the ‘mobile type’ method, which was used to print words in the style of a seal. The idea was not popular in the Eastern world, but four centuries later, using the same idea, Johannes Gutenberg, a craftsman from Mainz, Germany, set up shop.
